Few ensembles have a better and more intimate understanding of Purcell's music than The Locke Consort. Acknowledged for its interpretations of 17th century English music, the consort played a central role in the William & Mary Celebrations and the Purcell festivities in 1995. This month they perform at the Birmingham Early Music Festival, to celebrate the 350th birthday of the English Orpheus.
