This May, Cellist, Gambist and Conductor Jaap ter Linden will be Artist in Residence at the Bodenseefestival. Ter Linden is the fifth artist taking his residency in the Bodensee, after Ton Koopman (2005), Juliane Banse (2006), Dmitri Sitkovetski (2007) and Heinrich Schiff (2008). During his residency, Jaap ter Linden will perform in various settings, presenting a wide range of repertoire, as gambist and baroque cellist (in music from Purcell and his fellow Dutch composers Hellendael and De Fesch), and as cellist (in Sonatas and Trios from Mendelssohn, with Midori Seiler and Jos Van Immerseel), but also as conductor (with Concerto Köln and Daniel Hope in a Mendelssohn programme, and with the SWR Symphony Orchestras of Baden-Baden & Freiburg and the Letland State Choir).
This year's theme of the Festival is 'England, Oh England' and a great deal of the Festival's programmes is dedicated to the anniversaries of Purcell, Händel, Haydn and Mendelssohn, as well as to other composers who have worked and lived in England.
