Violinist Rachel Podger started Brecon Baroque as the orchestra-in-residence of the Brecon Baroque Festival, where she is artistic leader. Desribed by the BBC — tongue in cheek — as the best baroque ensemble from Wales, Brecon Baroque has drawn great enthusiasm from audiences in Europe and beyond. They performed in Great Britain, Benelux, and, this Spring, in Japan and their first recording, of the Violin Concertos by J.S. Bach, will soon be followed by a second CD with Channel Classics.
This May, Brecon Baroque will perform in Germany — a bit of homecoming for Rachel, who after all was born near Kassel!
